PRESS RELEASE May 4, 2020
MORRISBURG, Ontario – Upper Canada Snowmobile Region (UCSR) of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) is pleased to announce that Darin McRae of Carleton Place will be joining the UCSR Team on June 9, 2020 in the position of District Manager.
Darin comes to us as no stranger having spent 3 years as president of Beautiful Eastern Association of Snowmobile Trails (BEAST) and, during that time, 2 years as a director on our board. Darin is currently an active volunteer, Trail Patrol member, and Driver Trainer.
Darin is retiring from a distinguished 29-year career with the Canadian Armed Forces as a senior COATS naval reserve officer. He has held various staff and command positions at the national and regional levels and, through these positions, he has acquired extensive experience in training development, human resource management, and financial management.
Darin took advantage of many professional development opportunities to achieve a Certificate in Management (Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC)), Bachelor of Military Arts and Science degree (RMCC), Bachelor of Education (Brock University), Charted Manager (Canadian Institute of Management), Certified Training and Development Professional (Institute for Performance and Learning (I4PL)), Chartered Manager (Canadian Institute of Management(CIM), and finally a Master of Education Degree (Athabasca University).
Darin also has plenty of experience in the volunteer world since he has served as a director of UCSR, President of BEAST, and volunteer and instructor positions with the Canadian Yachting Association (now Sail Canada), Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, and Navy League Cadets.
In 2002 he was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal for local, provincial, and national community service and leadership. In 2002, he also received the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) and in 2013 received the bar to the CD – both awarded for long service and good conduct. On behalf of the 16 clubs of UCSR we welcome Darin to his new position and look forward to working alongside this dynamic individual to promote safe, familyoriented recreational snowmobiling in Eastern Ontario.
