UCSR Awards

UCSR Safe Snowmobiling Ambassador – This award is presented to an individual or group of individuals in recognition of outstanding achievement and contribution to the overall safety of organized snowmobiling through one or more of the following areas: Promotion, Education and/or Partnerships.

UCSR Outstanding Groomer Operator – This award is presented to an individual or group of individuals (paid of volunteer) in recognition of outstanding achievement and contribution to grooming operations through through one or more of the following areas: rider experience, education, safety, and/or maintenance.

District Rookie Award – This award is presented to an individual in their first five seasons of volunteering for recognition of outstanding achievement and contribution to snowmobiling through one or more of the following areas: rider experience, education, safety, and/or volunteer culture.

Winston Goodman Lifetime Achievement Award – Named after Winston Goodman, a lifetime volunteer and supporter of organized snowmobiling at the local, district and provincial levels. This award is presented to an individual or individuals who have demonstrated a long term commitment to snowmobiling at the provincial, district and/or club levels and has added great value through their leadership, volunteerism, and eagerness to promote the sport.

District President’s Award (Awarded by President). The President’s Award and Coin may be presented to volunteers, staff, landowners, outside individuals or organizations, or other recipients deemed appropriate by the President. There is no formal nomination process. This is an “on-the-spot” award for outstanding volunteer service or excellent performance and a way for the District President to show their appreciation for a phenomenal job. The award may be presented for, but is not limited to: contributions to district or club operations; outstanding examples of cooperation between organizations that benefit snowmobiling; assistance from landowners to accommodate snowmobile trails; and/or outstanding efforts to promote safe and responsible snowmobile operations. The frequency of presentation will be at the discretion of the President.

OFSC Awards

OFSC Excellence Award – Outstanding OFSC Family of the Year – This award is presented to an OFSC Snowmobile Family in recognition of exceptional achievement in one or more of the following areas: Participation Development, Rider Experience, Volunteerism Development and/or Partnership Development.


President’s Award – Outstanding OFSC Club of the Year – This award is presented to an OFSC Club in recognition of exceptional and innovative activities in one or
more of the following areas: Participation Development, Rider Experience, Volunteerism Development and/or Partnership Development.


Ted Day Memorial Award – Outstanding Communications Award – This award is presented to an individual, or group of individuals, in recognition of their contribution to the development and implementation of a marketing/communications campaign or initiative promoting one of more of the following areas: Rider Experience, education, safety, volunteerism and/or Partnerships.


OFSC Brenda Welsh Outstanding Woman in Snowmobiling Award – This award is presented to a female volunteer in recognition of their contributions in one or more of the following areas: rider experience, volunteer culture, initiatives and/or partnerships.


Lloyd Wood Memorial Award – Outstanding OFSC Volunteer of the Year – This award is presented to an OFSC volunteer in recognition of exceptional achievement in one or more of the following areas: Participation Development, Rider Experience, Volunteerism Development and/or Partnership Development.

Outstanding OFSC Youth of the Year – This award is presented to an OFSC youth volunteer (12 to 17 years of age) in recognition of their contributions in one or more of the following areas: Rider Experience, Volunteer culture, initiatives and and/or Partnerships.

John Power Award – This prestigious lifetime achievement award was introduced n honor of visionary leader, John Power, who laid the foundation for all the great work we do today. Nominations are welcome for visionary and exemplary volunteers who have played an important role in organized snowmobiling in Ontario for 25 years or more. The provincial recipient will be selected based on their significant contributions to the club and/or district with success in leadership, culture, projects, external relations and overcoming challenges throughout their volunteer life with the organization. Like John Power, nominations should focus on examples of the nominee’s passion, vision, and influence as a leader for snowmobiling in their community and beyond.

Terms of Reference

​Participation Development      Customer acquisition and retention, attracting new and returning riders to organized snowmobiling, focused on tourism initiatives bringing in out‐of‐province visitors to experience the trails, marketing/PR/communications aimed at
increasing interest in snowmobiling. 
Rider ExperienceRider Development is the first component of Participation. It involves any and all activities aimed at attracting and developing snowmobilers into current and/or future loyal permit buyers and includes all resources and information pertaining to Driver Training and Marketing and Communications.
VolunteerismMaking an impact to enhance the overall experience of snowmobiling to permit buyers. The policy or practice of volunteering one’s time or talents for the benefit of snowmobiling in Ontario.
LeadershipDemonstrated success in influencing others in the accomplishment of a common goal. Motivating, guiding and directing others to work together in the interest of the betterment of snowmobiling in Ontario.
Safety PromotionConstantly seeking ways to promote safe snowmobiling practices for the betterment of the sport whether through safety messaging, educating riders or forming partnerships that achieve goals related to rider safety.
