If you wish to become a volunteer or paid grooming operator for any club within the UCSR you must follow these steps:

  1. Contact your club grooming coordinator (who is appointed by the UCSR District Board based on recommendations from the club Presidents). A complete this may be found here.
  2. Club Grooming Coordinators will discuss their requirements, operations, and expectations with you. You should be prepared to discuss your experience, training, and availability.
  3. Club Grooming Coordinators will recommend or not recommend potential Grooming Operators to the District Grooming Coordinator.
  4. District Grooming Coordinator, with support from the District Manager, will approve or not approve new or returning Grooming Operators.
  5. Groomer Operators must provide the following documentation to support their employee file and payroll requirements:
    1. UCSR Application (attach downloadable PDF);
    2. Copy of Glass G or M Driver’s License (or higher);
    3. Driver License Abstract (UCSR will cover the MTO fee);
    4. TD1 (attach downloadable PDF);
    5. TD1ON (attach downloadable PDF);
    6. Valid email or Direct Funds Transfer (DFT) info for payroll; and
    7. UCSR Employee Agreement (to be provided by UCSR).
  6.  Groomer Operators will complete various training packages. Previous training and certification will be accepted. Training includes:
    1. Snow-Groomer Online Training conducted by UCSR through OFSC;
    2. Snow-Groomer Practical Training conducted by your Club Grooming Coordinator;
    3. Workplace Health and Safety Awareness Training conducted by UCSR;
    4. Workplace Violence, Harassment and Sexual Harassment Training conducted by UCSR;
    5. AODA conducted by UCSR;
    6. Occupational Health and Safety Awareness Training conducted by UCSR;
    7. WHMIS Overview Refresher Training conducted by UCSR;
    8. Grooming Equipment Operation and Maintenance Refresher Training conducted by your Club Grooming Coordinator;
    9. OFSC Log sheets and Pre/Post Season Inspections Refresher Training conducted by your Club Grooming Coordinator;
    10. Health and Safety Policies and Safe Operating Procedures conducted by UCSR;
    11. Liquid Fuel Handling Legislation (Code 2017) Procedures conducted by UCSR;
    12. Risk Management Refresher Training conducted by your Club Grooming Coordinator or UCSR;
    13. Trail Guideline Refresher Training conducted by your Club Grooming Coordinator or UCSR;
    14. Signage Guideline Refresher Training conducted by your Club Grooming Coordinator or UCSR;
    15. Chainsaw Course conducted by UCSR;
    16. First Aid Training (optional as needed);
    17. Fire Extinguisher Training (optional as needed); and
    18. COVID-19 Refresher Training conducted by your Club Grooming Coordinator or UCSR.
