Driver Training Course – In-Person

The OFSC Driver Training Course is offered by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs in conjunction with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation through local clubs and the District to obtain a Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s License. This license allows operators without a driver’s license to operate a snowmobile on OFSC trails.

Operating a snowmobile has opened up new opportunities for family recreation during the winter months. The increased popularity of the activity emphasizes the need for the safe operation of these motorized snow vehicles. The Motorized Snow Vehicle Operator’s Course covers safe operating procedures, legal requirements, first aid and much more, so that students can develop good habits and skills to be safe and courteous snowmobile operators. Students must be at least 12 years of age. The course is normally completed in one day and is about 6 hours with a short exam at the end.

In-person driver training has been on hold for the past two seasons but 2022-2023 is looking good to bring back this important training for our youth riders.

As course dates ar set, we will add them to the club Events Calendar.

Driver Training Course – Online

Online Driver Training is now available directly from the OFSC. Online training now provides the option to obtain your Motorized Snow Vehicle Operators Licence conveniently from home on your own schedule. Check out Driver Training – Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (ofsc.on.ca) for full details and how to register.

Instructors and Helpers

We are looking to volunteers to become Motorized Snow Vehicle Instructors and Qualified Helpers so that in-person courses can be offered. We will provide all the training and cover the costs of offering the course. This is another great way to help grow the sport and train young riders in safe riding practices. All current instructors and helpers will need to recertify given the two season puase on the offering of courses.

We will be organizing some information sessions and training sessions in the very near future.

Please refer to the club Events Calendar for course dates, locations, and contact person for your specific club.

Contact your club, info@ucsr.ca or drivertraining@ucsr.ca for more details.
